# S&P Global Energy opens governed data queries to customer AI agents

S&P Global Energy says it has built a way for customers' AI agents to query its structured energy data in natural language. Its domain experts organize datasets into focused Databricks Genie Agents, each with business definitions and example queries. Managed connection points expose those agents to compatible AI tools, while a proxy combines them for questions spanning datasets or commodities.

S&P says the arrangement lets experts publish access to a new dataset group in days, down from a process measured in months. Queries still run through Unity Catalog permissions, which limit an agent to data its user can access. The account gives no measured customer adoption figure.
