The United States will ask G20 members not to create new institutions for governing artificial intelligence, according to a White House official cited by Reuters.

The position was set out before a two-day North Carolina meeting hosted by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and White House technology adviser Michael Kratsios. The meetings are the first in a series leading to the G20 leaders' summit in Miami in December. Canada has signalled support for a different approach balancing innovation, public trust and safety.
