Google plans to add GPU/NPU hardware acceleration, dynamic memory and storage scaling, and persistent Linux virtual machines to Googlebook, 9to5Google reported. The changes would support heavier local workloads and long-running AI agent processes.

Google currently positions its Linux Terminal Preview as an entry point for command-line AI tools, rapid prototyping and web development. The virtual machine isolates private files from agents unless users grant access.

Google is also working on integrating graphical Linux apps into the app launcher and adding USB passthrough for local device debugging. The report gives no arrival date for the graphical app integration.
