An arXiv preprint describes mold, a Unix/Linux linker that applies data parallelism across the linking pipeline. The authors report that, on large real-world programs, mold linked multi-gigabyte debug binaries in seconds or less. They report performance of 2.4 to 16.1 times that of lld and up to 112 times that of GNU ld. The paper attributes the gains to parallelizing all passes rather than one dominant optimization.
