Lockheed Martin says its PAC-3 Edge interceptor adds a new seeker and a Northrop Grumman multi-pulse solid rocket motor to engage hypersonic glide vehicles and other advanced aerial threats. The seeker is intended to improve precision and maneuverability.

The motor separates propellant into independent chambers that can ignite on command, allowing the missile to coast and restart later in flight to extend its range. Lockheed says Edge works with existing launchers and command systems. The company is pursuing a premium interceptor tier and acknowledges that economics are a secondary priority at this phase.
