# Amazon Bedrock adds reasoning summaries for OpenAI models

AWS says Amazon Bedrock now lets developers request human-readable reasoning summaries from OpenAI models through the Responses API. The new reasoning.summary parameter returns a summary alongside the model's answer, giving developers context for evaluating responses, debugging applications and explaining how a model approached a request.

The summary appears in the summary array of the reasoning output item. Support covers all OpenAI models on Bedrock in AWS Regions where OpenAI GPT models are available, including in-Region, geographic cross-Region and global cross-Region inference.
