Researchers report in an arXiv preprint that LICOA, a mobile robot that moves and directs projected light in response to language instructions, achieved a 57.50% success rate with its best adapted action model. The same architecture trained from scratch achieved 8.33%.

The robot combines a mobile chassis, a steerable mirror and adjustable projection scale to choose where to place images. Researchers trained models on 150 simulated tasks comprising 7,500 rendered episodes, then evaluated them in previously unseen real-world environments. Testing covered 480 complete execution trials across 12 tasks. A further 150 trials supported the need for both camera views and coordinated chassis and mirror control.
