MediaTek published an October 5 security bulletin addressing 31 chipset vulnerabilities, including two critical modem flaws, Cyberpress reported. The bulletin covers nine high-severity and 20 medium-severity issues across modem, video, display, AI-processing and other system components.

The critical flaws, CVE-2026-20519 and CVE-2026-20520, arise from missing bounds checks that can allow software to write outside allocated memory. Other issues can cause memory corruption, system crashes or privilege escalation.

MediaTek said affected device manufacturers received information and patches at least two months before disclosure and that it knew of no active exploitation. End-user fixes depend on manufacturers and carriers distributing firmware or operating-system updates.
