SoftBank Group has invested $225 million in Autonomous Solutions, Inc. and formed a joint venture with the Utah company to develop self-driving equipment for road, rail and airport projects. The investment goes to ASI, which plans to expand sales across the construction industry; SoftBank is separately funding the venture.

ASI's Mobius software operates fleets of autonomous work vehicles. The company says it can work with equipment from different manufacturers, allowing builders to automate mixed fleets. The partners did not disclose the venture's funding amount or ownership split.
