# AWS adds partial indexes to Aurora DSQL

_Published Friday, October 2, 2026 at 5:22 PM EDT · Infrastructure · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

AWS has added partial indexes to Aurora DSQL, allowing customers to index selected rows instead of an entire database table. AWS says the feature improves query performance and lowers index storage costs for tables containing a small active set alongside a larger history.

Customers specify the selected rows with a WHERE clause when creating an index. Aurora DSQL uses that index when a query's filter falls within its condition. The feature is available in every AWS Region offering Aurora DSQL.
