# AWS adds safeguards against conflicting identity store updates

_Published Monday, October 19, 2026 at 6:16 PM EDT · Infrastructure · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

AWS has added optional checks to IAM Identity Center that prevent administrators and automated workflows from silently overwriting concurrent changes to users and groups. The service manages workforce sign-on to AWS accounts and applications.

Each user and group now carries a revision value. Update or delete requests that supply an outdated value fail, allowing workflows to read the latest record and retry. The feature is available wherever IAM Identity Center operates. It works through the Identity Store API, excludes group membership operations and leaves requests without revision values unchanged.
