Generative Bionics this week unveiled Gene.01, a humanoid robot with full-body tactile sensing, at AMD Advancing AI 2026, the company announced. Built in six months, the robot combines distributed tactile skin with proprietary physical AI that integrates the body, mechanics, and intelligence into a single system.

CEO Daniele Pucci said Gene.01 is a scalable platform customized at the edge of AI, design, and end-effector level to maximize each customer's needs. He added that the robot is the first expression of the company's belief that physical AI must be human-aware, physics-native, and industrial from Day 1. The tactile skin detects touch, temperature, proximity, and force, allowing the robot to anticipate human presence and respond before and during contact.

Generative Bionics is adapting the platform for its first industrial use case through a collaboration with Fincantieri, a global leader in shipbuilding, focused on shipyard operations including a welding humanoid. The company is also open-sourcing Gene.01's robot model on channels such as PyPI, conda-forge, and the official ROS build farm. Generative Bionics spun out of the Italian Institute of Technology in 2024 and raised €70 million in late 2025 to develop its product and construct its first production plant.
