KTH researchers demonstrate parallel nanopore fabrication method

KTH researchers demonstrate parallel nanopore fabrication method Image: Primary
Researchers at KTH Royal Institute of Technology reported a method for making arrays of nanopores in parallel by using built-in mechanical stress to tear nanoscale fragments from sensor membranes. The study produced openings of 6 to 10 nanometers and tested the technique in dielectric, metallic and semiconductor membranes. The researchers said the nanopores were effective for DNA analysis and molecule detection, patented the technique, formed a startup and shipped samples to a collaborator for testing.
