# Synopsys names chip design agent platform, targets year-end availability

Synopsys announced AgentEngineer, a portfolio of AI agents for chip design and manufacturing, and said it plans general availability by the end of 2026.

The company says more than 50 customer engagements are underway. The agents cover six areas, including verification, implementation and simulation, while engineers retain approval checkpoints. The Autopilot Platform lets customers use their own language models, data and infrastructure.

In verification, an agent can examine test failures, inspect signals and propose code changes for an engineer to review. Synopsys's headline verification speed and coverage figures come from work it showed in July, rather than new production results for this portfolio.
