Alphabet disclosed a Qualcomm stake worth $547.9m in a regulatory filing reported Friday by Reuters. Google's parent owned nearly 3 million shares at the end of September. Qualcomm shares rose more than 3% before the US market opened following the news.

Qualcomm is expanding beyond smartphone chips into data centres, where Google already designs its own TPUs. The companies also collaborate on Android phones and AI agents for cars, combining Google Cloud's Gemini models with Qualcomm's vehicle platform.
