The AI-focused hedge fund Situational Awareness, founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, has again bought large call-option positions across AI chips, data center power, cloud compute and memory, according to finance.biggo.com.

The report says option premiums reached hundreds of millions of dollars, with trades executed last week and early this week. Nomura data cited in the article shows a large investor paid at least $315 million in premiums on Sept. 4 and Sept. 8 for calls on AMD, Bloom Energy, CoreWeave, SK Hynix, the Roundhill Memory ETF, Intel and SanDisk.

The fund had cut more than $4 billion in equities to Citadel after a July selloff shrank its portfolio 67%.
