S-Transistors claims it can manufacture Josephson junction field-effect transistors at scale, Hackaday reports. The startup proposes using superconducting transistors to place quantum-computer control circuits inside the same cryogenic enclosure as the qubits, reducing wiring that penetrates the enclosure and creates a potential failure point.

Its approach uses current to briefly interrupt superconductivity in Josephson junctions, producing a detectable voltage pulse. It would compete with cryogenic CMOS circuits, which can use standard semiconductor production lines but cannot operate as close to absolute zero as the proposed superconducting devices.
