Researchers report in a preprint that their HC2Robot humanoid locomotion framework achieved a mean simulated traversal success rate of 97.60% across stairs, gaps, high platforms, and slopes. It also produced higher rates of safe foot placement than the perceptive locomotion baselines tested.

The framework predicts when and where each foot will land and how well the terrain will support it, using observations available to an onboard controller. Training uses privileged simulator information to teach those predictions without requiring that information during operation. The reported traversal results are simulated, so they do not establish physical robot performance.
