Electric Plant raises $11.2 million for AI plant-sensing system

Electric Plant raises $11.2 million for AI plant-sensing system Image: Primary
Electric Plant raised an $11.2 million seed round led by Onto Ventures and Climactic to bring its sensors and Bombadil AI model to market, TechCrunch reported. The startup interprets electrical signals in plants to help growers adjust watering and fertilizer schedules. Sensors connect to living tissue beneath the bark using stainless steel screws, then send measurements through a low-power wireless network to a base station. Bombadil interprets the data in the cloud. CEO Justin Mast says the model works across about 125 species and the system can reduce water use by 20% or more while boosting yields. He declined to identify the company's initial customers.
