San Francisco restricts Waymo and Zoox service for Fleet Week

San Francisco restricts Waymo and Zoox service for Fleet Week Image: Primary
San Francisco has restricted Waymo and Zoox operations across a large part of the Marina District, The Embarcadero and the entire Presidio for Fleet Week, KQED reported. Both companies said they would comply with the city's request. The restrictions run Oct. 9 through Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The city is using geographic operating boundaries to limit robotaxi traffic after autonomous vehicles contributed to July Fourth congestion, transportation officials said. This is San Francisco's first Fleet Week restriction of this kind. Uber and Lyft are exempt, and the city is increasing Muni service along the eastern and northern waterfront.
