PayPal says processing times for its core analytics workloads improved by 25% after it migrated from on-premise Hadoop platforms to Google's Managed Service for Apache Spark. Its engineering leaders also reported a 30% rise in adherence to service-level agreements, including during traffic surges.

The migration consolidated workflows and batch jobs from multiple platforms onto one cloud analytics platform. Teams can provision clusters in minutes and scale them with processing needs, replacing hardware provisioning that required months of planning.

PayPal says tooling consolidation and reduced manual maintenance also lowered operational costs, but gives no quantified cost reduction.
