Waymo reportedly targets 20,000 robotaxis by end of 2027

Waymo reportedly targets 20,000 robotaxis by end of 2027 Image: Primary
Waymo plans to expand its robotaxi fleet to 20,000 vehicles by the end of 2027, from roughly 4,000 today, Semafor reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The company also aims to reach 8,000 vehicles by the end of this year. The reported targets follow Waymo's announcement less than two weeks ago of a $5 billion loan, its first debt financing. Its next-generation Ojai robotaxis use vehicles supplied by Zeekr. Waymo imports them without the Chinese autonomous driving systems or connected software covered by U.S. restrictions, then installs its own technology in Mesa, Arizona.
