AI shortens drug discovery to around 1 year in China: Insilico CEO
Hong Kong-listed Insilico Medicine has cut drug development timelines to about one year by combining AI with its China research ecosystem, its CEO said.
Insilico CEO Alex Zhavoronkov told Reuters in an interview at its Shanghai R&D facility that the company's record is nine months to a developmental candidate, with a typical timeline of 13 months. He said it usually takes about 4.5 years to get to a drug developmental candidate using the traditional approach, but having a research lab in China can cut two years of time.
