Uber has launched a commercial robotaxi service in London using autonomous-driving technology from Wayve, according to The Verge.

London riders who opt in through the Uber app may be matched with a Wayve-developed Ford Mustang Mach-E when booking UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber Electric rides. The service starts with licensed safety drivers in the front seat. Uber says those drivers will not control the driving and are intended to be phased out over time.

Wayve operates the driving system, while Uber and fleet operator Otto Car maintain the vehicles.
