Steam September revenue estimated at record $1.7 billion

Steam generated an estimated $1.7 billion in September 2026 revenue, its strongest September on record, according to Alinea Analytics figures reported by Tom's Hardware. That represents a 13% increase over the previous September record in 2025. Estimated third-quarter revenue reached $5.5 billion, up 12% from the same period last year. Revenue for the first nine months reached an estimated $16.5 billion, compared with $14.5 billion in 2025. Among September's 500 top-grossing games, established intellectual property accounted for 79.5% of revenue, including 3.8% from remakes and remasters. New intellectual property released in 2026 contributed 20.5%, showing that established franchises retained most spending in that group.
