Nvidia announced that its OpenShell Reference Architecture is now available, combining software restrictions on AI agents with hardware that monitors their behavior and enforces access policies outside their control.

The design uses Vera Rubin infrastructure to run models, Vera CPUs to operate agents and BlueField-4 processors running Nvidia Sentry to monitor activity. Nvidia says Sentry can quarantine agents within milliseconds if they cross software boundaries.

SAP is integrating the architecture with its Joule Studio runtime, while cybersecurity companies including CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks are integrating support. Banks BBVA and Santander are exploring the framework rather than announcing production deployments.
