Storms Boelo and Austen cut power to more than 150,000 homes across northern Europe on Sunday and disrupted mobile phone service, AFP reported. Authorities reported outages affecting more than 82,000 homes in Britain, nearly 60,000 in France and at least 10,000 in Germany. In and around Friburg-Brisgau, Germany, the blackout cut the mobile phone network and forced the town's main hospital to limit service to emergency cases. In France, Enedis said 2,600 technicians and contractors were restoring electricity, with some 59,000 homes still without power at midday Sunday.
