Overwhelmed by Comments in Google Docs? Ask Gemini to Summarize Them

Google said Tuesday it is rolling out new Gemini features for Google Docs and a voice control update for its macOS app. The company announced the changes in a blog post. Gemini in Google Docs can now scan and summarize comments and suggest document changes based on collaborator feedback. The tool can also generate responses to comments and draft replies to threads. Users can submit queries such as "Summarize all comments from Sarah" or "Based on the comments, what are the unresolved issues?" from the bottom bar or the Gemini side panel. The comment functionality is rolling out now on enterprise plans and Google AI Pro and Ultra for consumers. Google Docs users will also be able to generate and modify images, diagrams, and infographics within a document using Gemini. The feature uses the context of the document to create relevant visuals. Users can refine existing visuals using natural language prompts. It currently works only on the web and is available on enterprise plans and Google AI Pro and Ultra for consumers. Google released a dedicated macOS Gemini app in April. The latest update introduces system-wide voice control activated by pressing the Fn key. By default, the command enables intelligent dictation, but users can opt into Gemini reasoning to access the screen and perform tasks on open windows. The voice capability is rolling out globally in English with more languages planned.
