The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving a standalone system after the Qilin ransomware group listed the agency on its leak site on August 26. ATF said it disconnected the affected system after discovering the intrusion and found no indication that its enterprise network, eForms system, or other ATF systems were affected. Senior Justice Department officials designated the event a major incident, and ATF said it is investigating with the department.
