Worldwide PC shipments fell 20.1% year over year to 62.7 million units in Q3 2026, according to preliminary figures released by IDC. Apple shipped 5.9 million Macs, down 11.3% from 6.7 million, while its market share rose from 8.5% to 9.5%.

IDC attributed the contraction to vendors and channels buying inventory earlier in the year ahead of price increases, combined with continuing supply constraints. HP recorded a 30.9% decline, the steepest among the top five vendors. IDC said high inventory and soft demand could bring near-term promotions, although prices would remain well above year-ago levels.
