# Paper Office releases tools for AI agents to edit Word, PowerPoint and Excel files

Paper Instruments has released Paper Office, a set of Python packages for AI agents editing existing Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. The packages extend familiar document libraries with ways to locate an edit, preserve unrelated file content, check saved results and refuse operations they cannot handle safely. They also add controls for changes such as tracked Word revisions, slide relationships and spreadsheet references.

In the company's 61-task evaluation across five models, agents using Paper packages and guidance passed 92.5% of trials, compared with 80.7% using the upstream packages without skills. Those figures come from the company's own test, which focused on specific document workflows.
