Casar and Waters introduce resolution opposing bailouts for insolvent AI firms

Representatives Greg Casar and Maxine Waters introduced a resolution urging the federal government to oppose bailouts for insolvent artificial intelligence firms and assistance shielding their executives from accountability, the Congressional Progressive Caucus announced. The resolution targets emergency lending and direct capital infusions intended to sustain insolvent AI companies or prevent their resolution through ordinary bankruptcy processes. It also calls for protecting pension holders, supporting workers through federal spending and benefits, and adding transparency and accountability requirements to prevent speculative bubbles. The measure expresses the sponsors' proposed federal response to a potential AI-related downturn; its introduction does not impose financing restrictions.
