NVIDIA pledges $250 million in compute for UK AI safety research

NVIDIA Voyager Image: Primary
NVIDIA announced a five-year compute donation valued at $250 million for U.K. research into the safety and security of AI systems that can act autonomously. The commitment provides $50 million in compute access annually, with the majority supporting the wider U.K. research community and a proportion supporting Oxford-led BOLD, UCL-led SOFAIR and Imperial College London. NVIDIA will fund access through U.K.-based NVIDIA Cloud Partners using infrastructure hosted in the country. Research will cover secure agents, open-model security, safety engineering and robotics. Provider selection, technical architecture and commercial terms are still to be agreed.
