Palo Alto Networks paid $500 million in cash and stock to acquire Console, an AI-agent startup that automates routine IT help-desk work, according to two people with knowledge of the deal.

The companies announced the acquisition without disclosing terms. Palo Alto Networks said it plans to integrate Console into its Cortex security platform, where the startup's agentic functions are intended to let security teams investigate and resolve alerts using natural-language interaction. Console had raised $29 million since its 2024 founding.
