X says its Safety team identified a suspected network of 200,000 inauthentic Chinese accounts. The company said 200 of those accounts posted comics, images and text about AI data centers that could manipulate debate over US AI and energy policy.

According to X, the posts portrayed data-center operators as profiting while nearby households bore electricity costs. The company did not identify the accounts and did not say what the remaining accounts posted. Engadget reported that sample material appeared to use OpenAI-generated illustrations and talking points.
