OpenAI has contracted dedicated AI compute from two Firmus AI Factory sites in Malaysia under a multi-year agreement announced September 8. Firmus said OpenAI becomes an anchor customer and that its total contracted capacity across customers now exceeds 900MW.

The company did not disclose the sites, power allocated to OpenAI, contract value, grid arrangements or export licensing. Firmus said it plans to deploy Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems with its HyperCube infrastructure across Asia-Pacific; two of its seven listed AI factories are operational and five are under development.
