Gemini Spark gets Workspace upgrades as Google teases AI Pro access soon
Image: Primary Google is rolling out new features for its personal agent Gemini Spark in Workspace apps, expanding editing capabilities and improving speed, the company announced. The update allows Spark to open and edit Google Docs, edit private and shared spreadsheets and presentations, read comments on those files, and add images to documents and presentations. Users can also edit and refine documents using the Canvas panel. Google said Spark is now over 50% faster and that long-running tasks will not take as long. Smarter sourcing enables the agent to retrieve and review sources in parallel for faster processing on complex tasks. Enhanced notifications will provide more details when input is needed, and Google will stop sending mobile notifications for a task if the user is actively present in that task's thread in the Gemini web app. The features are rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers wherever Gemini Apps are supported, except in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Josh Woodward said AI Pro members should stay tuned for an access update soon.
