QNAP says it has received multiple reports of suspected compromises of customers' network storage devices through the Plex2Shell vulnerability chain. The company urges users to update Plex Media Server through its App Center to version 1.43.3.10861.

Users running vulnerable Plex servers exposed to the public web should treat their devices and personal content as compromised, QNAP warns. Updating will not remove payloads already installed by attackers. Its remediation guidance includes checking for compromise, cleanly reinstalling the operating system and resetting Plex and NAS credentials. The flaws affect Plex Media Server; QNAP says its operating systems are not themselves vulnerable.
