# OpenAI adds interactive plugin extensions inside ChatGPT

OpenAI said developers can now build plugin extensions that give their apps a dedicated place in ChatGPT's sidebar and interactive panels within conversations. The panels can include viewers for files used by the developer's product, extending existing plugins that connect ChatGPT to outside tools.

OpenAI also introduced a Plugin Creator and revised the submission process for its plugin directory. Users can approve a plugin's access requests individually, and ChatGPT Sites can host plugins for colleagues who use their own connected data and permissions. OpenAI said it is adding support for a proposed event specification that would let connected apps trigger automations.
