Researchers show browser extensions can hijack AI assistants
Image: Primary Forever Security demonstrated that a browser extension with two common permissions could hijack AI assistants in Chrome, Comet, Edge, Opera Neon and Claude in Chrome. The researchers said the extension could make agents act for an attacker and, in some cases, access files or enable a camera and microphone. The findings were demonstrations requiring a malicious extension already installed; Chrome and Edge issues cited in the report have fixes.
