# Apple's AI camera alerts cost more but proved less useful in comparison test

A Verge comparison found that Apple's AI camera alerts were often less specific than those from Ring and Google Nest, despite a higher price for homes with multiple cameras. In the reviewer's tests, Apple sometimes described a visitor only as "someone," while its rivals supplied more context. Alerts for motion from the tested Aqara doorbell also stopped appearing in Apple Home, although the camera continued recording and other tested HomeKit cameras sent alerts.

Apple bundles the features with iCloud Plus plans costing $9.99 a month for one camera, $29.99 for two, or $59.99 for up to five. Ring and Google each offer AI camera features for $20 a month across unlimited cameras.
