Australian AI cloud firm Firmus will invest $300 million to secure up to 150Tbps of dedicated capacity for 25 years on SubCo's planned APX East submarine cable system.

The 16-fiber-pair cable, first announced in January, is intended to connect northern Sydney with San Diego and is expected to be ready for service in the fourth quarter of 2028. Firmus becomes a cornerstone customer on the project. A Hawaii branch is planned for late 2029, while a Fiji branch is also planned.
