OpenAI and Synopsys sign agreement to develop chip-design model

OpenAI and Synopsys sign agreement to develop chip-design model Image: Primary
OpenAI and Synopsys announced a multi-year agreement on Sept. 30 to jointly develop GPT-Synopsys, a model intended to operate Synopsys' electronic design automation tools for semiconductor engineering. Synopsys said OpenAI will license its tools, and the companies will share revenue and collaborate on bringing the service to customers worldwide. The planned service would bundle computing resources, the model and tool licenses on OpenAI-hosted infrastructure. Agents would run design tools, interpret results and revise designs toward outcomes reviewed by engineers. Early technology engagements with semiconductor customers are underway. The announced capabilities and availability remain forward-looking, rather than demonstrated results.
