OpenAI will combine ChatGPT and Codex usage limits for Plus, Pro and Business subscribers starting in December 2026, according to a note article citing its Help Center. Usage will be measured in tokens, with higher-performance models and more complex tasks consuming more of the allowance. Instant chats will be excluded.

Subscribers will be able to see their remaining allowance and reset time in settings. Those reaching the limit can wait for a reset, change plans or purchase additional credits for eligible features.
