Tesla demonstrated a redesigned Roadster that used fans and cold-gas thrusters to lift and maneuver above vehicles, TechCrunch reported. CEO Elon Musk said production would begin in 2028, extending the timeline for a vehicle first unveiled in 2017.

Tesla is taking reservations requiring $50,000 for the Performance trim and $250,000 for Thrust; the single-seat Rocket version is invitation only. Engineering vice president Lars Moravy said 10 thrusters connected to 600 liters of compressed air enable the car to lift and spin in midair. Musk did not announce a purchase price, and Tesla has repeatedly delayed the vehicle.
