Seamoretech secures €1.1 million for brine recovery technology

Seamoretech secures €1.1 million for brine recovery technology Image: EU-Startups
Porto-based Seamoretech secured €1.1 million in the first closing of its seed round, bringing its total funding to €3 million. Rypples, 7Seas Capital and Crédito Agrícola participated. The money will support industrialisation and commercial expansion, including a planned launch in Spain next year. The startup's containerised system uses forward osmosis to recover freshwater and minerals, including magnesium, calcium, copper and lithium, from desalination brine. Seamoretech says the system doubles freshwater production yield and cuts energy consumption by 50% compared with reverse osmosis. It is building a pipeline of pilot projects in markets including Spain and Egypt.
