Musk's 'Terafab' Groundbreaking Raises Hopes for Korean Chip Equipment Orders — HPSP, Hanmi Semiconductor Move to Lock Up Supply Chain Image: Primary
SpaceX has begun construction on the Terafab semiconductor project in Texas after signing property tax abatement and economic development agreements, BigGo Finance reports, citing industry sources and foreign media. Tesla, SpaceX and xAI jointly pursue the project to combine chip fabrication, advanced packaging and testing at one site. HPSP has confirmed delivery of test equipment in the first half of next year to Tesla's advanced research fab near its Austin facility. The equipment uses hydrogen under high temperature and pressure to repair transistor gate defects and improve manufacturing yield. Construction remains at an early stage; Hanmi Semiconductor is cited as a potential packaging equipment supplier.
