Rune, incorporated as Liitto Technology, said it closed a $40 million funding round led by Spark Capital and introduced RELIC, a compute module designed for installation at solar farms. The company says each module can include up to 1,024 graphics cards and uses solar-generated direct current near the panels, reducing the need for long-haul transmission and transformers. Rune said it has deployed RELIC at a 200-megawatt solar facility in Texas and plans to expand its focus to wind farms.
