Opera opens preview of local AI model support in Opera One

Opera opens preview of local AI model support in Opera One Image: Primary
Opera made WebAI available as an opt-in early preview in Opera One, allowing AI models to run directly in the browser without cloud processing. The company says it supports open-weight models such as Google's Gemma and, on Macs, Apple's on-device foundation model. WebAI supports text generation, content classification and identifying relationships between information. Opera says developers can add these features without running AI infrastructure or paying per request. Local processing puts more demand on users' computers, and model performance depends on device hardware.
