Ford plans onboard inverter for Fathom truck's home backup power

Ford Fathom Camo Image: Primary
Ford announced that its upcoming Fathom electric pickup will integrate an inverter capable of supplying over 10 kW of AC power, The Verge reported. Putting the inverter in the vehicle removes the external wall inverter required by the discontinued F-150 Lightning. Owners will still need a Ford Home Power Station and a backup panel for whole-home backup. Ford targets an estimated $3,123 for that combination, compared with a typical cost of around $5,205. Final pricing is pending, and permitting, electrician labor and heavy-gauge wiring will add costs.
